The Postgraduate Diploma in Higher Education Teaching or PGDip(HET) is aimed at the professional development of university & college teachers by enhancing their knowledge and skills in teaching and learning. Instructors/Lecturers reflect on their professional practice and gain a theoretical and critical perspective of teaching and how students’ are supported in their learning. Upon completion of the programme, university or college teachers will be able to:
  • critically examine their teaching and learning activities
  • use theoretical understandings of the nature of learning in assisting student learning of the various disciplines
  • use relevant assessment principles to implement more effective assessment of student learning
  • explore the use of e-Learning tools to complement and supplement student learning
  • evaluate approaches in course and curriculum design used in their own practice
  • mediate and facilitate learning of students through proper academic and personal counselling
  • manage and initiative research activities and supervise research more effectively.
